Jangatha comes to us from Indianapolis and is best known for his own brand of hard-hitting dance music: crispy clean production, thick sound design and funky shuffles. His previous works have been featured on such labels as Guesthouse, Pin-up and Ficus Tree.
Jangatha – Radix – Headset Recordings by Headset Recordings
Radix stretches the boundaries of tech house with a low end that keeps the track dance-floor friendly while pads and leads are stretched through the grit of resonant filters, oscillator detuning and ring modulation. The pattern style drum programming lends a driving momentum that’s dynamic enough to keep you guessing.
Refinery is the combination of two talented electronic musicians from Lexington, Kentucky: Mutt, a DJ since 1994, and Tyler, a classically trained instrumentalist since early childhood. Refinery produces a unique style of music with influences ranging from classic Chicago house to Detroit techno. They’ve found recent success with their well-received EPs on Headset, Dust Traxx, and Home Audio.
Refinery – House Preserves – Headset Recordings by Headset Recordings
House Preserves is reminiscent of the best in French house. Filters dig deep down into the core of sound and float verses in and out of focus that dig deep into bass cabinets. Strings arpeggiate upward in modulation pushing samples into a stop start pattern of excitement. Plan to build on summer vibes of sunsets and boat parties or late night sets when the right track can elevate a dance floor to new spiritual highs.
South Africa’s Ronny D is a young, self-taught producer that claims some of his biggest musical influences are Rocco Rodamaal and Knee Deep. With a background in afro house, he brings a unique perspective to the deeper side of dance music.
Ronny D – Deep Nation – Headset Recordings by Headset Recordings
Every sound in Deep Nation holds a specific place in the purposeful depth of the tribal mood it builds. Primal emotion is explored by elegant jazz piano. Shakers and subdued vocals celebrate African heritage while embracing the European influence heard in bass-lines and synth programming.
