Welcome Stephen Glass

I want to welcome Stephen Glass to the Headset Recordings staff. We know Stephen from back in the old Southern House Coalition days when he used to live in Arkansas. Stephen is now living in Austin, Texas. You can catch him DJing around Austin or on his radio show Boombox Acrobatics every other Sunday on MyHouseYourHouse radio.

Here’s his bio from his soundcloud page.

“I saw all those Disco movies when I was a kid. I was easily influenced. One day, I talked my fifth grade home-room teacher into letting me turn our class-room into a disco. I brought my records from home, along with my Radio-Shack Disco lights and I borrowed a couple of those big tweed clad record players with the speakers built in. You know, the kind that public schools used to have. Anyway, I never looked back. After High School, I volunteered as a night time DJ for a community radio station. I filled the airwaves with early 90s House Music and Techno, ultimately assuming the role as Dance Music Director. Again, easily influenced, I got wrapped up in the politics of the station which was staffed by former Black Panther activists and old school Jazz-heads. Unknown tome at the time, my radio programs became the inspiration for a lot of the raves and warehouse parties in my region. I just thought it was cool getting all the promo vinyl. Before long, I was DJing local and regional warehouse parties, advocating House Music with the passion of a evangelist. Mostly, I was just walking my designer shoes across sticky floors and playing my records on shitty sound systems. PLUR. I was writing for a Rave magazine and local alternative newspapers and it was cool when my DJ chart was printed in Project X magazine. I happily made the transition from the warehouse gigs to playing late night clubs and bars. I no longer worried about messing up my fashions. Today, I DJ a weekly with fellow Austin Myhouse-Yourhouse broadcasters at a venue called Barcelona. I like watching TV while I listen to music. I prefer watching three TVs at a time. I text message while I drive. I advocate ADD, it has served me well. You can check out my radio show, Boombox Acrobatics, live on Myhouse-Yourhouse every other Sunday. http://radio.myhouse-yourhouse.net/ ”

Welcome!
